If you use the Internet and especially if you have broadband access then it's only a matter of time. Time 'til what you ask? Time 'til you get infected with nasty, malicious software ~~ most lately dubbed malware.
I recenly had a run-in with the nasty Vundo trojan which prompted this post. I woke up and set to work one Monday only to find that my Web browser (namely FireFox) kept popping up windows to random websites, especially when I attempted to conduct Google searches. Many of the websites that popped up were sites advertizing rogue spyware detection and removal packages.
The scariest thing about this for me is that I take all the usual precautions. I run a firewall, I connect to the Internet by a router, I run virus protection software, etc. etc. Nonetheless, I still got infected. Norton Antivirus was not enough. Norton was unable to remove the affected files and get rid of the symptoms.
In the end, the only software that saved the day for me was; "MalwareBytes". So I'm posting this page for aflicted users who suffer similar symptoms and want to know what works. If you think you are infected with malware and your antivirus software can't seem to fix it, try MalwareBytes. It certainly worked for me...
